route 302 about 2.5 - 3 hours drive
use Google MAPS
We did this route years ago, but things haven't changed that much. The previous respondent is right, you will choose route 302. As you cross into NH from VT, you come into Littleton, http://www.littletonareachamber.com/ Nice little downtown area, with a few restaurants and is home to the longest candy counter in the world at Chutters http://www.chutters.com/candy/about.asp . Get your sugar fix there!
Bethlehem http://www.bethlehemwhitemtns.com/ will be on your travels and we love this area. The town itself is very small, and you may not want to stop and visit, but the scenery is breath taking, with your views of the mountains in the distance. If you want scenic, this is it. The road is good, but not interstate, one lane in each direction.
One of our favorite spots in the White Mountains is the Willey Slide picnic area in the Crawford Notch State Park. It is small, but so peaceful there and gives you a chance to feed the ducks, walk the boardwalks and just relax.
Lots to see, in my opinion. Depends on how fast you want to travel, and what you want to see.
From Stowe I would take 100 north to Morrisville where you will pick up Route 15 East. Take until it ends at Route 2. Take Route 2 east and get on I-91 SOUTH for approx 1 mile and pick up I-93 south. Follow I-93 south to Littleton NH where you can pick up Route 302 east to Jackson/Conway.
I hope you're going to visit both the Trapp Family Lodge and Santa's Village during your trip!!! :)
