Ideas for day trips from Andover, MA with children

We're going to be staying for a week in Andover, MA from July 11-18. We have two small boys - 7 and 3 -and we have never been to the area. We will spend a few days in Boston but then I would love to spend some time in New Hampshire. Franconia with the flume and the cable car looks great but I'd love some advice or other ideas for day trips. We could stay over one night if needed. We love to be outdoors and the boys can hike a little - probably up to a few miles. Thanks in advance for some ideas!

I would recommend a trip to the Friendly Farm in Dublin, Mariposa Museum in Peterborough, check out childrens activities at Colony House Museum in Keene and Stonewall Farm in Keene. All are child oriented but interesting enough for adults with plenty of space for stretching those little legs.

About 15-20 min north of Andover is Winnekenni Castle and Kenoza Lake. Great for hiking and exploring.
