Port Huron border crossing

How do you get from the VIA station in Sarnia to the Amtrak station in Port Huron? Where is the border crossing? Is there only the one bridge over the St. Claire River? Is it possible to walk? What is the scenery like along the Amtrak route in MI? Is it mostly urban? Thanks in advance for any info. John

1. Re: Port Huron border crossing

The Via Rail site for the Sarnia station says taxis are available. The trip is about 3-4 miles on the Canadian side and about another 3-4 miles on the US side to the Amtrak station.

The only crossing in Port Huron is the Blue Water Bridge. It's a double-span bridge with one going in each direction. The fare is Cdn$2.50/US$2.00 so it would add $5.00 to your cab fare.

You don't say where you're going but the train from Port Huron goes through mostly rural areas through it will pass through Flint, Lansing, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo before going to into Indiana and on to Chicago.

Also remember that to cross the border, you need a passport or proof of citizenship (a birth certificate) and identity and have a good trip.
