The Maine Department of Transportation has announced that it plans to resume work April 1st on a section of Maine Rt 3 in Trenton, part of the main access route from Ellsworth to Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and other on-island communities.
The work area includes the intersection of Rt 3 with Maine Rt 230 (the shortcut some of us usually use to avoid congestion on Rt 3).
The DOT says that they will keep two lanes of traffic open between 6:00AM and 6:00PM, but that drivers can expect alternating one-way traffic between 6:00PM and 6:00AM. They also say that crews will be working Monday through Saturday, but not on Sundays.
Their announcement says the work to prepare the road for paving should be completed by mid-May, with the actual paving completed by mid-June.
