Advice on which island?

hey everyone....need advice :)

my boyfriend and i are planning a trip to Hawaii at the end of March for a week, howevere we're not sure on which island to go to.

we're mid-20's, and wanting to rent a jeep and check out some volcanos, do some snorkling, lie on the beach and have a romantic vacation.

Any advice on which island this is best at?

Thanks in advance!

Well for exploring, the Big island has its active volcano; its rain forests, its Snow capped peaks; its deserts; its ranch lands; the best snorkel and diving in the state; the best lux resorts; the lowest prices for rooms . Kona is like a funky 1970 beach town perfect for your age group. It is like Lahina was 20 years ago. It is 6 times larger than Maui....

Forget the jeep.......you are not permitted to drive them off a paved road in Hawaii... unlless you rent from Harper, who permits it

You can check out most of the big island with a regular rental car. And like HD said, you can only go off road with a 4x4 from Harpers anyway ... and they are not cheap.

If you want to go to the Big Island, consider planning your trip so that any offroading you want to do is on one day, and rent the 4x4 for that day only.

To explore the volcano, you'll want to go on foot ... there is tons of hiking, through craters, out to the lava flow (when possible), around the crater rim. You can easily spend a couple of days here if you want. (Volcanoes National Park).

Big Island also has the best snorkeling.

Maui has great beaches, okay snorkeling, and its own volcano -- Haleakala -- and you might enjoy it, as well. The volcano there is not active, but it is a sight to see.
