we are planning to go by car from DC to Florida for a DC Spring Break April 11- April 20, 2014. We are two adults and to kids (8,3) and would love to see the most attractive parts of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. I guess we have to skip the north and just drive through (and do it in a different time). We might leave already in the afternoon on April 10, drive to Richmond, sleep somewhere there and then continue. We know we should show the kids the Disney World, but otherwise it doesn't have be about amusements parks. We, the parents, have been to Florida already three of four times, but many years ago.
We were thinking about stopping in Charleston and Savannah (the great old cities - I loved as a teenager Gone With The Wind:) and then continuing to Florida. I remember that swimming with the manatees in Crystal River was gorgeous and we would love to include as well the Cape Canaveral and Everglades. Otherwise we do not know. Do you have, please, any ideas, what might be interesting for us? It could be a nice quiet beach day, some old south city or plantation (but we should stay more or less close to the east coast when traveling south, but in Florida we want to travel around) or some natural wonder. The kids are good in travel, we did a big southwest car trip with them last summer. And one more important thing - we have pretty small budget for our trip.:( We might sometimes camp or sleep in a cheap motel or cabana - never mind, the most important think is to see as much and as interestingly as possible.:))))
Thank you very much,
Marketa and Martin*
