Advice needed on where to go

Dear Delaware Forum:

I am hoping to find a Delaware beach destination that can accommodate a mini-family reunion (12 people) that we are having on July 4-8, 2012. Were were hoping to rent a 6-bedroom house, but are learning that most houses (especially on a peak weekend) require that you check-in and check-out on a Saturday, which we won't be able to do. So now we're thinking of looking for a resort or hotel that would allow us to stay for 4 nights. We are coming from all around the US -- DC, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, and Fargo, ND. We'd like to be somewhat near a major airport. (Will the traffic be too bad to tackle on July 4-8 to try to get to Delaware from one of the major DC airports)? We have a reasonable budget, but don't want to spend a huge sum on this short trip. Thank you for any advice you may have. We have not been to Delaware for a vacation before.

Some hotels may have a 3 night minimum over the 4th. Yes traffic will be heavy during that period. If you get an in town hotel in Rehoboth or Dewey.you could park your vehicles and walk everywhere. Most downtown hotels limit parking to one car per room. check out www'beach-fun.com for hotel and restaurant info.

Is it worth your while to rent the week even if you stay less than that? You can check in anytime after saturday. may help if you can be a little flexible maybe 3-7 instead. But if you decide on hotels, then book early. There are options in OC but assume you don't want to go there.
