Late October Travel - Some Questions.

We are arriving in DIA on the 19th and will be staying in CO until the 28th. We will be driving from DIA to Grand Junction (where I was born) and then heading back to DIA and staying a lodge along the way. When we arrive my son will be 4 he wants to see dinosaurs and snow (even if it is a little bit) do you think we will have any luck? Also, we have heard that a lot of places close in October and places we should avoid or go to as a must this time of year? Thank you any input will be helpful.

Fruita (a suburb of Grand Junction) has a wonderful dinosaur museum that my grandkids love. Dinosaur Journey Museum has robotic dinos and a movie that should be just right. https:/…

Grand Junction area probably won't have snow but Denver could have snow by then. Check out this website for the earliest dates of measurable snowfall - plenty of years there have been some good October snowstorms. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bou/?n=snowstat

And check out these photos of snow in Vail in September - http://blog.vail.com/first-snow-season-vail/ Fall color on the trees and snow on the ground.

When was the last time you were in Grand Junction? If it's been a while be prepared for some changes. : )

Some businesses in the mountain resorts close between the fall color season and the start of skiing around Thanksgiving, but it seems to me that we're seeing more visitors, businesses open (many with reduced hours), and things going on later in the fall up until about Halloween. There are good deals to be had on lodging.

In addition to Dinosaur Journey in Fruita, you might want to check out Dinosaur Ridge near Denver.

I'm betting you'll be able to find some snow somewhere!
