Antelope Canyon, Page, AZ, after Bryce or before GCNP?

We will be staying in Bryce for 2 nights (after Zion) and then will travel to Page staying in our motorhome at Wahweap campground for 2 nights. After Page we will be staying 3 nights after the Grand Canyon for 3 nights. We want to do Lower Antelope Canyon and possibly Upper. To avoid leaving the campground and marina area on our only full day (we plan to do water based activities and tours there) we are thinking of doing a the Canyon tours on the way to Page and as we leave Page. We arrive in Page Sat. May 26 and leave Monday 28 (Memorial Day). It seems to be approximately 3 hours to Page from Bryce and the same from Page to Grand Canyon. So we could do one Canyon mid-day on Sat. the 26th on our way from Bryce and do one in the morning of the 28th as we head to the Grand Canyon.

I know there are sights to see along the way for both routes (the Dam, and Horseshoe Bend) so we don't want to rush but there is no need to arrive at each campground before early evening. So which should we do in the mid-day slot and which in the morning? Does it matter in terms of sunlight? Could we possibly do both Canyons in one of our time slots? Seems like doing both would take about 4 hours with wait times so we could do that 1:00-5:00 on the 26th or 9:00-1:00 on the 28th. Last question...is it safe to leave our motorhome parked at the Antelope Canyon Tours parking lot? We will be making our reservations soon so thank you for any suggestions.

You’re confused about logistics.

Page is closer to Bryce than it it is the trailer/camping village at Grand Canyon National Park.

One Antelope Canyon tour will be sufficient.

One Antelope Canyon tour is sufficient. Schedule that on the afternoon you come in from Page. Go to Horseshoe Bend on the morning you drive to.the Grand Canyon. Don't worry about the light.

The drive times you have are based on wheels turning in a passenger car with no allowances for traffic delays or stops on the way. You are traveling by RV on two lane roads with elevation gains, small towns where you'll need to slow down and because it's Memorial Day weekend, there will be a lot of traffic. Heading in to Page, there will probably be vehicles towing boats. That drive can take you 4 hours or longer. Allow plenty of time.

Thank you both. I now realize that I made a mistake in my original post. We will be at Bryce first for 2 nights, then at Watchman Campground in Zion for 3 nights. So we will be driving from Zion when we go to Page for 2 nights. So it sounds like you are recommending we go to Antelope Canyon when we are on our way from Zion to Page, is that right? We can make a reservation for 2:00 or so which allows plenty of time from Zion if we leave at 9:00am...4 -5 hours or so. If we do only one canyon it sounds like Lower Antelope might be more dramatic?

Then on the 28th we leave Page to drive to the Grand Canyon. We can do Horseshoe Bend that morning and do a short hike before continuing to the Grand Canyon. We have camping reservation for a specific site in Mather Campground at the Grand Canyon for 3 nights. How does this sound?

Yes. Do an Antelope Canyon tour the afternoon you come in from Zion. You will also have a time change between Zion and Page. 9 am at Zion will be 8 am in Page.

The difference between Lower and Upper Antelope is the access. Lower requires the use of ladders and stairs to get down into the canyon. Upper is accessed with a ride out to the site and then walking straight in.

There’s a hike to access Horseshoe Bend. Allow about an hour and a half, round trip, depending on your pace. So there’s your short hike. Don’t worry about getting in another hike before you get to the Grand Canyon. With stops at viewpoints, etc., you can spend several hours driving Desert View Drive from the east entrance to your campsite. You’ll have a full day.

Thank you, Connie. This sounds perfect. We like the sound of Lower Antelope Canyon. Sounds a bit more unique and we are fit, though in our 60s. The time change will help us as we can make a 1:00 or 2:00 reservation but have an extra hour to get there. The hike at Horseshoe Bend sounds perfect as well on our way to the Grand Canyon. We can explore that a bit but have plenty of time to approach the Grand Canyon. I have been there twice, but it was many years ago and I don't think I ever entered via Desert View. Two last questions...any issue parking our 24 ft. motorhome at the parking lot for Antelope Canyon Tours? Do you recommend a particular company for the Canyon Tour? Thank you!

Plenty of places to park your vehicle. Just be patient with crowds.

Every tour in Antelope Canyons is identical, right down to the footprints. Which Tour company you choose won’t make a bit of difference in your AC experience.

Thanks. As far as the parking, in addition to having enough room for the motorhome, is it a safe place to leave our vehicle for a couple hours? We will have all our belongings in the RV.

Yes, the lots are safe. Use common sense. Don’t leave valuables in plain view.
