Summer Road Construction Alaska Roads 2013

To those of you driving Alaska roads this spring/summer, etc, you might want to know where and when there will be planned events and future planned events for road construction. This will mean lane closures and delays. You can check 511.alaska.gov and check the boxes on the Map Legend for "Planned Events" and "Future Planned Events" to see which mile markers for each road are affected. You may check "Alerts" and "Driving Conditions" for up to the minute information as you set out on the roads. Happy travels!

Anyone else get their car sprqayed with tar on Dimond Blvd. last night about 9:30. I'm not happy and think that with the wind blowing there should have been flaggers out there stopping cars while the truck was spraying. Any one out ther know who to complain to.

I think Alaskan road construction companies should be more accountable across the board. Say leaving a 9" steel spike mixed in with loose gravel on the sterling highway. They don't mix well with Subaru tires. $500-$1000 later just from a blown tire. Great job out there guys.

I believe you need to contact the companies doing the construction in those particular areas, but you might start with the AKDOT. Tripadvisor is a travel forum - can't really be much help to you in getting your complaints heard . . .

Agree with David as some of those contractors are idiots. Recenlty, coming down the Sterling Hwy one worker just left his door open to opposing traffic and w/o a flagger. Returned yesterday, and long delay north of Anchor Point.

Last summer they put a new surface on a large part of East End Road. They sure took the borough to the cleaners as the surface looks like it was never done by breakup. They did some more this summer and hope they did a better job.

Note, this is the company for the peninsula, not like the rest of the state
