New Year

Am looking to take a group of 20 away again for new year and wondering about the atmosphere here at new year?

We did Prague last year and Dublin the year before (Both fantastic!)

Any suggestions as to whether Riga would be worth it?

What are the average prices for beer/meals?

I can only imagine the weather will be freezing!!!

Worthing, United...

Riga is brilliant, Prague without the rip-offs. Meals and alcohol compare favourably with Prague, and yes i expect it will be warm undies weather. We visited in June when there was live music in the main square and lively bars along side fantastic jugendstil architecture (Art Nouveau) and lots of great restaurants.

If you decide to go then book a hotel in the old town, not on the other side of the river it's to far away to walk in the ice and snow.

Have a great time, we may even see you there

Yes it is really cold in the winter here, but anyway you can find a lot of great places in Riga where to clebrate the New Year! :) Maybe you should book before some place.

By the way now usually many tourists came to Riga because the alchochol and food is cheaper here than somewhere else...

Have a nice trip and enjoy Riga, if you will decide to come here! :))

Thanks for all the info, do you have any recommendations for hotels that would be willing to take a group of 20? We are not the roudy stag night types!!!

Besides Radi un Draugi (benefits explained in reply to other your post here) I can recommend to look at Konventa Seta or Reval Hotel Latvija. Both are 3*. The former is located in Old City and marginally has local touch, the latter is typical chain hotel located 5 min. walk from Old City. Reval Latvija usually has New Year's eve party on 26th floor's restaurant. Never has been there, but people say it's fun! Just be sure - tables should be booked early - mid November the latest.
