Park Inn North Vilnius. Bus to centrum/airport??

Hi!

Planning a stay at Park Inn North Vilnius hotel in June because of a great price thru the Club Carlson 4-for-2 offer.

But I don't find any info on buses to centrum/airport. I've tracked the internet I have found out that a taxi from hotel to centrum will be ca. 35 litas each way.

I wan't to take buses instead and and I see that the BIG shopping centre is nearby the hotel. Is there any buses from this shopping centre to the centrum (old town, bus station etc. ) ?

Also, the hotel is 12 km from the airport.. Anybody who knows how long time a taxiride from the hotel will take, and what the price will be (on a eaaarly sunday morning, flight is scheduled for takeoff at 06.10am)

To go by bus you need to change somewhere. The "Big" is on the opposite edge of the the city (from the airport), don't know about public transport in this area, check the map (scheme) www.vilniustransport.lt/images/mrweb_1.pdf ; but judging by the info on hotel's website the buses 52A and 40 go there from the centre. Don't know about No 52A, but know about No 40 - you get a bus No 2 from the airport and go towards centre, you have to get off at "Kražių" stop which is a next one after "Lukiškių" (when the bus stops at Lukiškių prepare to get off soon, don't sit until the last second). From this stop you have to cross the street and wait for a bus at another stop on the corner (also called "Kražių" stop). It's a narrow street, called "Lukiškių" (same as the previous stop, but the stop refers to the Lukiškių square). So the bus No 40 takes you across the city and will stop some 200 m away from your hotel.

The bus No 2, when you get off at "Kražių" stop, proceed on to one of the sleeping districts.

The bus No 40 arrives from the district where your hotel is situated and the stop on the corner you'll be waiting for it is the 1st stop of its route back to the district (i.e. it arrives, makes a "loop", and proceed same route back). You can find that corner on the map, then check Street View of Google Maps.

Well, have checked the bus No 52A - it actually stops at the same stop "Kražių" and some 3 or 4 next stops, i.e. if you missed "Kražių" get off at the next one and wait for No 52a. Judging by the hotel's website the bus takes you to your hotel and stops some 100 away.

Taxi ride means the ride across the whole city, and since you are going to start at the air port it would be more expensive than to any other place mentioned in this forum. The distance is bigger as twice, same about the price. Distance in km may be not very accurate, there are some road works in the city, there may be some more road works in the summer, that creates some traffic jams in certain places so usually it is much more reasonable to ride on a bypass, i.e. longer distance but much faster. This vary from week to week so the situation during your visit is not clear by now. I say that because after reading some reports of the others there may be some confusions and unnecessary misunderstandings as for which route is shorter, which one is longer and why to take the longer one if there is a shorter one and so on, and that constant obsession about the rip-offs :) .

Thanks!

It seems more difficult and expensive than the Radisson Blu Lietuva which was my first choice.. So, probably sticking with that one. Or maybe splitting the vacation in two.

2 nights @ Grata Hotel (my girlfriend fell for this hotel..)

2 nights @ Radisson Lietuva (my choice)

Well, "Lietuva" is in commercial centre, in a VERY centre and near everything.

"Park Inn North" is at the edge of the city, near the beginning of the highway to Riga, very convenient at one point or inconvenient at another point.

"Grata" is in so called "New Town", which was new in 19th century when the development expanded outside the city wall. Closest to the airport or bus/train stations out of all three.

From the airport the bus No 2 passes near "Grata" (you have to cross the street and walk a bit) and proceeds to the centre, the centre begins at "Lukiškių" stop, hotel "Lietuva" is accessible from the stop "Kražių" (you need to cross the river via pedestrian bridge) or to wait until the bus rounds and comes to "Europa" shopping centre, you cross the street and "Lietuva" is just in several metres ahead.

Location of 'Grata' is nothing special, unless there are some other benefits apart the location.

Thanks, yet again!

Lietuva is because of the location, the skybar and the casino. Plus I have a Club Carlson card, that will give med certain benefits when i'm there.

Grata is because it is closer to the airport, and purely economic reasons.
