Bratislava airport to Vienna?

Hi guys,

Have done a little research but seem unable to find any transport which goes directly from Bratislava airport to Vienna, does anyone know of any? We would be arriving via Ryanair at about 8pm into Bratislava airport. Thanks.

There are direct buses. Look on the airport website for more information, or www.cp.sk choose the English option and use 'bratislava letisko' as the departure point.

I think they go approximately every hour, cost c. €15.

After 8pm there are two services of Blaguss to Vienna, at 8:45p and 10:45p

the stop is in the front of arrivals area of the airport.

You can purchase the ticket from the driver (10 euro one way, 18 euro return ticket).

Travel time is ca. 80 minutes and the bus ends at Wien Erdberg terminal - where you can change to underground line U3.

There are two major carriers:

Blaguss - stops at Erdberg subway station in Vienna: blaguss.sk/media/…2006.08.2012.pdf

Slovak Lines/Postbus - not all their buses go to airport in Bratislava. Journey times are longer, but have more central stop in Vienna: slovaklines.sk/fileadmin/…wien.pdf

Bratislava, letisko is stop at Bratislava airport ;)

I read a number of forum posts before my trip to Vienna via Bratislava airport and have come back here to advise future travellers about how to get there from Bratislava airport. There are several ways, direct buses from operators like Blagus, Slovak Lines (Eurolines) and OBB (Austrian Bus company). You can also take the train from Bratislava city and the boat.

Unfortunately, there isn't one website that lists all the transport options and their schedules.

www.cp.sk is a good site for finding most transport options but it doesn't cover another direct bus company (Slovak Lines) which is cheaper and takes only slightly longer (1h45). To find Slovak Lines and OBB services use http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp

Also the route of the Slovak Lines is prettier than the Blagus route as it doesn't use the motorway for much of the journey. Blagus takes 1:15 and costs 10 euros and not cheaper for return. It also drops you at Erdbergstrasse International Bus station, where as Slovak Lines takes 1:45, costs under 8 euros one way and discounted for return and terminates at Hauptbahnhof in Vienna.

Hello gk01, just to correct: www.cp.sk covers the Bratislava-Vienna bus line of Slovak Lines/Postbus as well.

Though, there sometimes might be a problem with finding the correct name of the stop (for example Bratislava airport would be "Bratislava,,letisko", and Vienna Sudtiroler Platz would be "Wien,,Südtirolerplatz" etc.

Of course, ww.oebb.at site works nicely, too.

BTW, the difference in travel time between the two lines is in fact smaller than it looks in the timetable (only 15 minutes difference on route Bratislava city - Vienna airport) - Slovak Lines service has longer route, because it ends closer to the center of Vienna, while Blaguss does not go that far into Vienna and ends at the outskirts of Vienna (Erdberg subway station).

Will there be any problem finding a bus at Bratislava airport on a Sunday afternoon at 17:00 that goes directly to Vienna? Does ticket need to be purchased in advance?

That shouldn't be a problem, there is approx. one bus per hour. On Sunday next buses after 5pm leave at 17:25 (Slovak Lines, terminates at Sudtiroler Platz/Hauptbahnhof - subway U1), 18:25 (also Slovak Lines), 18:45 (Blaguss, terminates at Erdberg, subway U3) etc. with last connection at 22:45 (there are screens close to the arrivals showing next connections).

Travel time is from 1h15min (to Erdberg) to 1h50 min (to Sudtiroler Platz).

The driver will sell you a ticket, the price (one way) is approx. 10 Euro. Bus stop is close to the exit from arrivals hall and passengers are advised to be present at the bus at least 10 minutes prior to departure (for loading of baggage etc.).
