Are there still M&S stores in Budapest. We will be staying at the Intercontinental - any within walking distance?

@europe-chick

Me too that was the main reason for me and the misses for shopping at M&S but while in Budapest you may want to check out 2 pretty cool shops that carry many of the similar items we had come know and love at M&S, and some new ones we have found too.

Culinaris a pretty nice shop with several locations around the city comparable in price and quality to M&S with a pretty good assortment of food stuffs from sauces to chocolates to crisps. http://www.culinaris.hu/#shops

The other is Baldaszti's market a very nice shop with a great assortment of unique sausages a little more expensive than Culinaris but well worth it. If you go try one of their sandwiches you will not be unhappy as you enjoy it on your way back to the room with your bag of goodies. Of particular note is the Gray Cattle salami from an artisanal producer who gets his supply in the Kiskunsagi Nemzeti Nat'l Park.

Hope this helps
