The Szechenyi baths are wonderful and are mixed gender. Stick to the outdoor area part - indoors is a bit scruffy.... and don't be put off by the changing rooms which look like a 1950s asylum!

Lucas is also good but you need a cap there.

Most Hungarian actors and bohems tend to go to Lucas.

They have renovated the indoor part of Szechenyi it is good now.

Bring bath slipers and you will be fine.

Hi this is very good site for spas:

www.budapestgyogyfurdoi.hu it has all the spas on it,

now the reconstruction of the szechenyi has finished, now i think that is the best in the city and two spas:

Rac, Rudas are under reconstruction, and will be great after they will finish it!

Don't leave Budapest without visiting a spa!

We just visited the Szechenyi baths and they were wonderful. Outside baths were super clean, relaxed, unpretentious, in a beautiful setting. Don't know if I'd like walking around outside if the sun hadn't been shining, or the temp had been too low, but... in the autumn sun, this was the highlight of our budapest trip.

good luck.

Did you go to the "thermal bath" or the "swimming pool"? What's the difference?

the different is that Termal means Mineralwater, hot or called mineralrich water which comes from a spring.

Swimmingpool in Szechenyi is normal water not mineral nor the outside pools are mineral in Szechenyi,
