is it best to take sterling and change into forint over there or take euro and use them.

Do NOT take Euro: it is not accepted in most places, if they do take it they will make up the FX rate on the spot - and it won't be to your advantage.

Do you have a cashcard ? if so, there are ATMs everywhere, including the arrivals hall at the airport.

Whatever you do, don't CHANGE money at the airport, the traders there have the lowest rates.

Find out what you bank will charge for foreign currency withdrawals - I have a Nationwide account purely for foreign travel, they don't charge for FX withdrawals.
