Travelling to Budapest this Friday, bus or taxi to hotel, also any recommendations for nearby Hungarian restaurants for dinner?
To be clear, are you taking about this Marriott? https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g27…
If so, the 100E express bus (cost 900 forints) will take to you Deák Ferenc tér, which is appoximately half a kilometer walk to your riverside hotel over pavement and cobblestone. If you don't pack light , I would opt for a Fő Taxi which would cost about 8000 forints. (pay with credit card and add 10% tip)
There's other options to get in from the airport, so please read through this thorough breakdown: https:/…85181039
If your arrival is after 8pm it is not advised to take the 200E bus and transfer to the blue metro as it will be closed each weekday at 8pm and shuttered all weekend long. Replacement buses are in its place but aren't advised for incoming travelers with normal luggage.Edited: 6:50 pm, September 18, 2018

Thanks so much I couldn’t figure out how far the hotel was from the bus stop - one case so should manage the small walk.
Restaurant recommendations nearby?
Here's a good thread that still relevant restaurant recs: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g27488…
(if you wish to eat at Comme Chez Soi then make reservations well in advance)
Alternatively you can always go to the Marriott's page within TA (tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274887-d276351…) and click on the map, then click on the layer symbol in the upper right and click on restaurants and it will show you on the map of all of the ones nearby.Edited: 7:15 pm, September 19, 2018
Thank you, comme chez is fully booked all weekend
I had a group of American tourists staying at the Marriott for a week. ALL of them absolutely enjoyed the hotel's breakfast buffet, some even told me it was one the best they ever had!
Those guys travel to Europe twice a year, almost every single year for quite a few years, so they more than enough 5 star experience to compare with.
Thank you I have breakfast booked so will let you know if it lands up to Scottish 5 star expectations too
