Babji Zob (Hag's Tooth) Caves

We will be visiting Slovenia early April next year. Will the Babji Zob (Hag's Tooth) Caves be open at that time of the year? We will also be visiting Postanja caves. Is it still worth visiting Babji Zob (Hag's Tooth) Caves or are they very similar?

this agency organizes excursions in the cave : http://www.topagencija.si/en/povprasevanje

Postojna cave is way bigger and it has 500.000 visitors per year

The cave is only open in July and August on Sundays at 10AM. It is possible to organise a guided excursion out of these days but will be more expensive. On 1st of May the Caving club organises a free guided tour of the cave, so if you have an option, be there at 10AM.

Unlike the caves at Postojna or Skocjan, the Babji zobre caves are on a much smaller scale and are not regularly open to the public, although by prior arrangement tours can be made with a guide. It is however possible to walk nearby at the sight of the cave - I walk there quite often. You can go from Kupljenik, which is a tiny village set on a hilltop just outside Bled - there are also great views from the village towards Lake Bled.

Are they worth a visit ? Is it worth asking them to open the caves for us?

It depends on what you are interested in really. The most visited caves are of course Postojna and Skocjan. The former is a bit touristy - little train takes you round, tacky shops outside but still very impressive inside - whereas Skocjan is more the real deal and is UNESCO listed. You might want to consider going there unless you are particularly interested in Babjo zob.

Hello,

Babji zob cave is a small one. Postojna cave is very big and popular too.

If you are realy interested in visiting Babji zob i could ask my neighbor (head of dzrj Bled).

Tell me just number of persons and period of your visit.

Have a nice time, Marko
