Lake Bled - honeymoon - travelling with an infant

Hi. Not posted on here before so hello all.

We're off on honeymoon in June, the bulk of which is being spent in a villa near Rovinj in Croatia. However before we get there we're driving from Venice and plan to spend a couple of nights enroute in Slovenia. We're looking for somewhere special, we've been recommended Lake Bled? Does anyone have any recommendations for this?

Our budget is up to about 250 euros a night , we don't want a big chain or a hotel filled by a tour operator such as Thomson. We ideally want a Lake View room/suite, and hopefully the hotel/guesthouse/b&b to have a baby-sitting service, also after recommendations for places to eat for a romantic meal if anyone has any ideas.

Any help will be greatly appreciated - thank you!

Hi Colinwood,

We are also visiting Lake Bled in June, may see you there!

Before booking we did a great deal of research and looked at a wide range of hotels but decided to stay at the Pension Mayer based on its location and the excellent trip advisor reviews.

According to the TA website, Pension Mayer also has one of the best restaurants in the Bled area, so we have booked on a half board basis.

Hope this helps.

If Vila Bled was good for Tito and Prince of Yugoslavia, is for your budget too! May be Hotel Toplice, luxury for conditions. But who provide a baby sitting service... really I dont know!!! But tommorow I'll ask!

Thanks guys. Pension Mayer definitely does look favourite, great reviews on here aren't they, and like the fact its family run and pics of it look great. Also like the look of Vila Bled, but seems a bit big and caters for conferences etc so not so sure. Really looking forward to getting to Slovenia, had lots of good feedback!

You said: We ideally want a Lake view room....

That is a reason why I proposed Vila Bled. Lake view have Toplice, Jadran, Park, Golf, Kompas, Lovec, Jelovica and Pensions Gaja, Ribic, Mlino, Zaka, Pletna... But at most is the road a handicap! You said baby-sitting: all Sava hotels they have that service officially!

The pension mayer also has a view of the lake but I am not sure about the baby-sitting service.

There is a photograph of the lake and castle view in the TA hotel review section. Travellers also mention the lake view in the write up.

We have just come back from Penzion Mayer. It is excellent and we asked for the room with the lake / castle view but although you get a good view of the castle the lake is only glimpsed between houses. We paid cash and the room was 65 Euros for B&B for 2. If you are looking for something more grand the Villa Bled is probably what you want.

My friends:

Mayer and Berc houses are the best private pensions in Bled area!

Central, low prices for that class and native families!
