shops to buy vodka...

hello,

I am in Warsaw for a couple of days this week and would like to take home a couple of interesting bottles of vodka.

Where is a good place in the centre to buy?

vodka is sold everywhere. For larger choice go to some supermarket, carrefour, piotr i paweł (a bit more upscale) or anything like that. Recommedn Belvedere (for pure vodka), Żubrówka (the one with grass inside, brownish), Soplica orzech laskowy (nuts taste), Wiśniówka (cherry vodka)

Available everywhere, even on gas stations

Any "sklep monopolowy" or any other shop selling alcohol, or a supermarket. For instance, there is one at Aleje Jerozolimskie between Marszalkowska and Krucza streets, there are a few along the Royal Route. There is a supermarket at the Zlote Tarasy shopping mall next to central train station. Any many many more. Prices do differ between shops but not so much for the "popular" stuff, more so for imported alcohols (eg. whisky). For vodka, it shouldn't really matter that much where you buy it and even small shops may have a good selection.

Is it best to buy Vodka in the shops or at the airport duty free?

There is no "duty free" when travelling between Poland and UK so just depends on a straight price comparison. But if you buy before getting through security remember it has to go in hold luggage unless 100 ml or less!

No big difference, the price at the airport is an average price. The selection of vodkas at Chopin Airport is OK but has more foreign vodkas relative to Polish ones. In downtown Warsaw shops you'll find a better selection of Polish vodkas, especially those that are NOT in the premium segment.

But honestly, no big difference especially if you are not looking for anything in particular. If you are, you have a better chance of finding it in the city.

I noticed Polish alcohol is a bit more expensive at Warsaw or Wroclaw airports than in big supermarkets like Tesco, Carrefour or Real.
