Warsaw to Vienna using DB InterRail Global Pass

We are considering buying INterRail Global Pass - want to use it

to go to Vienna - it says reservations are compulsory on the train we want to take -- anyone have any idea how much reservations cost?

Not much. I have no exact idea but on domestic routes the fee is about 12 PLN (a few Dollars or Euros). You would have to go to the station and make a reservation for a certain train (miejscówka).

Are you sure about Interrail pass? You mentioned only one route and I doubt if will be cheaper if you don't use the pass on other routes, too.

The whole plan is to buy a 5 day pass and use it on roundtrip between Warsaw and Vienna (night trains) -- using 3-4 days travelling within Austria. Thanks for questioning -- if there is something else we should consider, please let us know. There are 2 of us - age 22 - so we are looking for

low cost.

There is an "Austria Specjal" fare that gives a pretty good discount on a round-trip between Poland and Austria, and the discount increases with each person added to the ticket.

There are also "SparNight" saver tickets on sale on the Warsaw/Vienna route.

You might also be able to save on Austrian domestic fares by booking early at the OEBB (Austrian Railways) web site: http://oebb.at

We wish to travel from Strasbourg to Warsaw by train in May. What is the best option for ticket purchase and the best train route ?

Strasbourg is near the German border and Germany has an excellent rail network with high- speed connections all over the country. The fastest connection from Germany to Warsaw is on the "Berlin- Warszawa- Express" which links the 2 capitals in about 6 hours. It might be an exhausting journey, though.

As far as I know, the German railway website is the best for searching for connections. www.db.de
