Hi Jaynie,

First of all, I like your question! :)

There's been a real growing trend for small/regional breweries over the last 2-3 years in Poland, and a number of pubs appeared just recently that satisfy proper beer-lovers' needs - here's a few suggestions, hopefully other members/visitors can expand this :)

* Ministertswo Browaru, Ratajczaka Street ("Ministry of Brewery"; pub with a good few taps, hundreds of bottles, and a beer shop under the same name just 2 doors away)

* Setka, Sw. Marcin Street (pub with approx. 10 round-robin taps + hundreds of bottles)

* Cooliozum, Sw. Marcin Street (sports pub with TVs, dart, table football and some gaming features - a few taps and dozens of bottles)

* Basilium, Wozna Street, just off the Old Market Square (small pub with a little sidewalk biergarten, 2 or 3 taps, but lots of bottles)

* Old School Pub by Piwomania, Plac Bernardyński (square) (smoker's pub with some rare round-robin tap beers and lots of bottles)

* Liberum Veto, Zydowska Street, near the Old Market Square (more of a student's place, i.e. cheaper, lots of bottles and some good stuff on taps)

Those above all offer a VERY wide range of traditional/regional beers and you won't find any of the big brands there - so you can't go much wrong ;) There has also been a strong push to offer some less known beers in other pubs as well, but not much of a proper selection there, so no point listing them. Just try to avoid the usual Lech, Tyskie, Zywiec, Warka, Okocim, etc.

Also, two other places worth a recommendation:

* Brovaria - an in-house brewery with a restaurant right at the Old Market Square - worth a try with a snack or a meal

* Kriek, Wielka Street, nearby the Old Market Square and Basilium listed above - as the name suggests, a pub dedicated to Belgian beer - run personally by the owner with vast knowledge and fantastic recommendation skills - well worth a try, but prepare your budget first - goes at least twice the price of Polish/Czech/Ukrainian beers in other pubs.

Na zdrowie! :)

Thanks for your very detailed reply!!!

We will try as many as we can in our four day trip .We fly tomorrow and as temperature looks hot, beers will be very welcome after sightseeing.
