Bus from the airport

We are looking at staying in either the Mercure Poznan or the Novotel Centrum, is there a bus we can get from the airport to these hotels? How much would a taxi cost also? It would cost around £45 if we pre-booked transfer so are trying to keep costs down.

Hi PhilBoyle7,

there is a bus line "L" from airport to the main station which is in the city centre, but stops just near Mercure. 10 minutes walk to Novotel from the last stop at the main station. Line is running every 1 hour (consult http://www.mpk.ipoznan.pl/komunikacja/mpk/tabliczka.html?P=PLL-22&K=20&L=48). You may also take line 59 running to Baltyk stop near Mercure, but it is regular bus line with many stops.

You may also take a taxi - it should cost about 20-30 PLN/GBP 4-6 (maybe less) for one cab (3 persons). Officially licensed taxi at the airport is 19622 which means that this corporation is available nearly all the time at the west entrance.

Hope it helps, but do not hesitate to ask,

best regards

Hi,

the price for 1/2 hour is PLN3,60/GBP0.75 for one person. If you're travelling longer, you have to punch next ticket. Good news is that during the validity period you may change lines, buses, trams etc. There are also 1/4hour (PLN2,0) and 1 hour(PLN5,80) tickets.

You may purchase tickets in newspaper booths (in Poland called "kiosk") or in several ticket machines (located in the city centre).

Fell free to ask, best regards

Hi Phil,

Actually, the "L" route is an express line and it costs twice the amount - hence the 3 of you will probably be better off (and surely faster and more comfortable) with a taxi.

If you're not stuck in traffic jams, about 30 PLN should be well enough to both the Mercure or the Novotel Centrum (the Mercure being about 1.5kms closer to the airport). The route is almost a straight line towards the east, and the 19622 taxis are known to be reliable - my company's foreign guests often take them from the airport to a location right across the city and have never been overcharged.

I hope you will enjoy your stay in Poznan!

Hi,

Neither biz_and_leisure nor me were right regarding ticket prices for line L. It cost PLN7,20, but you may purchase 10 stops ticket for PLN4,20 per person (no line changes allowed). Even for 3 of you it will be less than taxi, but the choice is yours :)

Compare http://www.mpk.poznan.pl/bilety/taryfy-oplat (in Polish)

Thanks to both of you for your help, as it seems the difference in cost will not be very much between the 3 of us we will probably get a taxi as it will be easier.

Thanks again,

Phil.
