Gay Travellers...

Is it now unsafe? I heard that there has been a rise in anti gay activity.

Hi, just an update on the demo - it took place yesterday and there were some nasty scenes, the antygay lobby forcing rerouting of the pro-gay demonstration. The same organisation also plastered large parts of the city with homophobic posters. On the plus side, according to the reports, there were a lot more people, locals and all, supporting the march this year. the church's position has been reinforced ,though, by the statement from the local church hierarchy, that this sort of marches "promote homosexuality". So this gives you an idea of the fairly widespread attitude/miscomprehension prevalent in Poland. But if you stick to the advice, you should be safe, other contributors had good experiences. Let me know how it went! Cheers!

There are demos for anti gays under police escort and then also pro gays with police escort . while I was in Krakow last week.. make sense of that. It is a madly Catholic country, there are few things to protest about these days except perhaps gay rights or non to gay rights so make sense of that.. It is safe enough I am sure. even the police protect Gays..

Enjoy and be strong..
