The company I work for, Polrail Service, can handle booking on all trains in Poland, and to/from Poland. Please send me a private message for more information if you like.

PKP InterCity just updated their web site, and the limited English version that existed disappeared! One step forward, two steps back! There is a "Polish" tab at the top, so I'd imagine an English version will eventually reappear!

don't bother booking from the UK - there are always seats and in the worst event, you can pay a small supplement and buy the ticket from the conductor on the train.

We bought our ticket in the morning and then went back for our train in the afternoon (traveling Krakow to Warsaw). when you get the ticket have them point out what your seat and car is. It is really impossible to figure out, and we had to move our luggage when it turned out we misread it. (The ticket agent did not speak English, so maybe have a dictionary with you to find the word for "seat")

It is a lovely train ride, though.

I do not think it is impossible to figure out your seat and car number when you have a seat picture and a car picture and numbers at them and cars and seats have clearly visible numbers on them. Anyway the Intercity between Krakow and Warsaw is comfortable and fast.

No fannying around required - just hop on the train, find a seat and wait for the conductor to come round. You'll pay 6zl (£1.20) more than the cost of the fare. Or you can get a travel agent in Warsaw to book tickets for you when you're there and just pay their commission.
