Advice on public transport

We will be arriving Prague at the central train station and need to make our way to our accommodation Salvator Apartments located at Revolucni 18, Prague 01 Praha 1. There are a number of reviewers here that warn of unscrupulous taxi drivers at the train station. Can anyone advise me on how to get to Salvator? Is it within walking distance or do we take a tram or metro? Where do we get off? Thanks.

take a right out of the train station and go to the edge of the park..here you can catch the tram 2 stops to Namesti Republic or simply continue walking.... by walking you will have to go around the smaller train station past the Hilton Old Town to Namesti Republic

Unclegus is correct - take the the 5 or 26 tram from the opposite side of the street from the park that you cross when walking from the train station to the tram stop.

And by opposite they of course mean no opposite side but turn right in the main entrance of station and go around station to tram stop.

Thank you all for your responses. You have been most helpful. If we choose to take a taxi because of our luggage, would you know roughly how much it would cost?

We have just returned from Prague. We asked the hotel to provide a taxi for us arriving, departing and during our visit. We were met on arrival with out name on a placard - no extra expense.

What happened was that it wasn't a taxi which provided the service, but a private driver - but we paid him fixed taxi rates. That is - 350 K to and from rail station, 400 to and from bus station etc. We never had a problem but we always made sure what we were paying before opening the door to the vehicle.

We have noticed throughout Europe that hotels are bypassing the taxis and using private drivers.
