12 hours drive. You will be there in 1.5 hours on the plane
I would take the train. You would get the opportunity to see a lot of the French, German and Czech countryside without the fatigue of driving. European railroads are vastly superior to ours here in the US: very comfortable, even in second class, and fast, many of the big international trains travel well in excess of 100 mph. A few weeks ago, on New Years Day, my wife and I went from Amsterdam to Prague by train. I decided to break it up, so we spent the night in Berlin. Spent a few hours the next day looking around this "bonus" city. To find out the schedule for train travel between any two places in Europe, check www.bahn.de (the German National Railway. Click on Int. Guests for English); for fares in US dollars, www.raileurope.com, which also has an 800 number if you want to talk to a live person.
