If you need an excellent guided tours of Prague...

I wanted to post and let those traveling to Prague know of an absolutely amazing tour guide that my husband and I recently spent two days with in Prague.

Eva Trkalova (www.trkalova.guide-prague.cz) was the best tour guide that we have had the pleasure of working with. We normally hire guides for private tours when traveling overseas in order to really get the most out of our trips and to get more of a local take on a place.

With Prague one of our reasons for hiring a guide was really the limited time we had there and the potential language barrier.

Eva not only spoke perfect English, but in two days ( 8 hours that flew by each day) really gave us a true sense of Prague, what it what like to grow up Czech and what is like to be Czech today. If you truly want to be a traveler and not just a tourist this is the way to go. Eva is vibrant, diverse in her interests, and very knowledgable about ALL aspects of her country and Prague.

We shared with Eva, prior to our arrival, our interests in history and beer (this is Prague folks) and Eva did a wonderful job tailoring her Prague Exploration tour to give us a very thorough over view of the city (and how to get around when she wasn't with us :) ) as well as taking us to points of interest that would really matter to us based on our interests and requests.

If you are traveling to Prague and really want to get to "know" Prague then definately get in touch with Eva.

Prague is an incredible city and the Czech Republic an incredible coutnry. We cannot wait to return. On our next trip to the Czech Republic we plan on working with Eva to take some of her tours outside of Prague itself to see more of the amazing Czech Republic.

-- Enjoy and for those of you searching I hope this helps.

I can second Eva's work. She was a great tour guide when I went back in May. She even arranged a custom tour for me that took me to all of the breweries in Prague, and I also was able to meet with the Brewmasters at most of the locations as well. She is very intelligent, hardworking and was a highlight of my trip. She is worth every penny.

She has the prices listed on her website:

…guide-prague.cz/…20detail

I paid 2940 CZK (not including tip, that was the quoted price) for my brewery tour for 2 people. It was supposed to be about 6 hours, but we hung out afterwards for a bit too and had dinner as she had many cool stories to tell. She also met us the next morning to take us to the Staropramen brewery which we didn't do during the tour.

I actually tried to book her for another day, after getting the first tour, but she had a previous engagement. She has traveled quite a bit herself, I remember her saying she had some corporate job where she traveled a lot before starting this business. She is very friendly and down to earth.

Have just come back from Prague, where we to enjoyed one of Eva's tours. We had a four hour walking tour of Prague, which cost 2,000 CZK. Eva met us in our hotel reception and then took us around all of the major sites of the city. Obviously, in four hours you can only hope to scratch the surface of the place, but with Eva’s help we were able to better decide the sites and museums that we would go back to. Eva is obviously very passionate about the city and its history. She is immensely knowledgeable and is able to mix the details of the history of Prague with her own experiences of growing up in the city under communism. Eva was also very helpful at recommending restaurants and bars within the city. When it comes to eating out, no guidebook can hope to accurately keep pace with the ever changing restaurants in the city, so Eva’s list of good places was invaluable.

In summary, I cannot recommend Eva highly enough. My wife and I very much enjoyed her tour, and I cannot imagine a better way of learning about the culture and history of the city.

I agree, we had a wondergul walking tour of Prague with Eva who did an outstanding job of touring the old Jewish section with us. Her depth of knowledge of each of the temples, the exhibits and the cemetary was remarkable. We truly got a clear understanding of what happened when the Nazis came to power there. In addition, she planned a wonderful tour of the sites that had not been included by our Riverboat excursion. Kudos to Eva!!!

We did a day walking tour of Prague with Eva at the end of September, and she was amazing! We learned so much, and very much enjoyed our time with this genuinely warm and extremely informed guide. Eva was very flexible (which is what we wanted) and we felt that we were exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend. We hit all the highlights, from the castle, to Charles Bridge, to the Town Hall Clock, to various churches and historic sights, and she seemed to truly enjoy sharing her knowledge of Prague with us.

We would highly recommend Eva as an essential part of any trip to Prague.

We were just in Prague last week and actually tried to use Eva's services. When she was unavailable we tried some other references and were eventually referred to Jana Pehe (www.seeprague.cz) who was EXCELLENT. We was awed by the extent of her knowledge, both about history in general and about Jewish history, which we were very interested in. Jana has a passion for informing people about Prague and her enthusiasm shows! She was very flexible and willing to alter our tour to whatever interested us...very nice woman and very reasonably priced (the least expensive tour guide we had on our trip to four cities).

Also, upon her recommendation we attended a symphony concert in the beautiful Smetana Hall of the Municipal House, which was a lovely experience. You can buy tickets at the door on the same day of the concert when your tour takes you to the Municipal House.
