Between Lisbon and Porto

In June we will be traveling to Portugal and Spain. We fly into Lisbon, stay there for 3 days then up the coast to Porto. I would like to know if there is any sights to see between the two cities. Do we travel along the coast or inland. It seems all the popular places are in the south. From Porto we are going to San Sebastian and have the same question, anything nice along the way. We like scenery, little old towns, vineyards, food and wine, etc etc. Thanks

We are currently travelling in northern portugal and enjoying all of our trip thoroughly. There havebeen lots of little villages, vineyards, beautiful landscapes and castles and churches. We flew into lisbon, visited Sintra, but unfortunately did not get to evora. Caught the train upto Porto. Then the train to Braga, did a day trip to guimeraes. Then headed upto campo do Gerês in the national park, only one in Spain. We spent 5 nights here so much that one can see and we had spectacular weather. And are now in Bragança and have been enjoying the montesinho natural park. Before heading to the Douro valley. So there is lots to see in. Or there portugal and so far we have not been disappointed.

There are plenty of rural accommodations at the Douro Valley and through Portugal, here's a link with info for the Douro valley www.dourovalley.eu/en/PageGen.aspx…

At Gaia you only have the cellars for Porto wine, the wineries are at the Douro Valley (they are called "Quintas") and some have also accomodation. www.cavesvinhodoporto.com/eng_home.html

HI. I think you need to buy a guide book and read a little about the country you plan to visit. THREE WEEKS is a more suitable time scale to combine Lisbon and Porto and places between. At least 500 years of history to context those things you see.

Google 'Sintra' and see how much there is to see in one village.

Continue with the Moors, Vasco de Gama, Henry the Navigator, Baroque architecture, Peninsular war, Salazar.

On the other hand, the roads are very good in Portugal.
