Visiting Caloundra May/June 2008.

Iam negotiating a holiday house exchange in Caloundra. The accommodation is part of or near Pelican Golf Club. Trying to find out if this golf club have snooker tables or is there an RSL type club near. A lot of residents move out of Caloundra for your winter months. Do facilities/activities close down or what attractions are available in Caloundra.

Well some of the grey nomads may go travelling north in our winter months but generally Caloundra is open for business and is beautiful in winter. Pelican Waters is a new estate so there are not a lot of facilities apart from the golf club, some accomodation and a shopping centre. The RSL is up in the main street of the Caloundra.. Email the golf club and ask them if they have snooker tables..

Good luck

It is called "Clown-dra" but is slipping gently into the modern idiom...... try the Caloundra power boat club which is a Km or two away from Pelican Waters.

From memory there are no tables there at the club.

The RSL is a good drive away and welcomes anybody with a pulse so no problems getting in.

The locals stay on the Sunshine Coast ,leave their doors open ,suck in the chrystal clear days because anywhere else is second hand .......and the Bream are running.

If the accommadation is part of the Crowne Plaza Resort (formerly Ramada) or surrounding gated units then will be a very nice spot to spend some time. The Resort bar (which is next to the golf club) has a pool/snooker table, not sure about the golf club, only been there a couple of times and don't recall seeing any but there may be. Agree with poster above about the power boat club which will be the closest licensed club too you and does a good feed. There is also a very nice tavern in pelican waters with pool tables and good food.

Nothing closes down here over the winter months so all the attractions are open. Australia zoo is a short trip away, as is underwater world in mooloolaba and the hinterland areas of montville and maleny. Caloundra itself isn't filled with attractions but is a short drive away from a lot.

Agree that the Powerboat club does a good feed. It's also very pleasant with views of the water.

All the clubs have courtesy vehicles which is useful if you don't have a car.
