Scenic lookouts in Wentworth Falls

Questions

1. Are the views from Jamison Lookout or Wentworth Falls Lookout better that of Echo Point?

2. Is there public transport that we could ride (after getting off at the Wentworth railway station) to near the lookouts to save energy? Our party includes persons with unreliable fitness. And I wish MyMulti 3 includes the bus here.

3. How could we get to Leura and then Katoomba from here? BMBC # 685?

Echo Point is over-developed, with tourist coaches, tacky souvenirs, and overpriced parking, but I don't think you can dispute that the view is pretty special.

You can get the public bus somewhat closer to the falls from Katoomba or Wentworth Falls Stations. However, its frequency is very limited, particularly on weekends. It looks like you've found the BMBC website, and all the information you need is there.

I'd also say that the most strenuous part of the walk (if any part could be considered strenuous) is between the bus stop and the lookout.

Still, if you time it well, the bus on a weekday may be at least as convenient to access Katoomba and Leura as the train.

All the BMBC public buses on their website are valid with any MyMulti pass, including the MyMulti-3.

Hi Charlene,

The Blue Mountains has a Trolley Tour (www.trolleytours.com.au) and while they are about $20 for an all day ticket, they drive right past all the lookouts and have a resonably regular service. Its hop on hop off and they have a stop/depot right at Katoomba station. Might be the easist way to go for people with mobility issues.

And I prefer Wentworth Falls but to see the falls you do have a walk. Echo Point is really accessable to see the 3 sisters and the stunning valley views.

Enjoy!

IMHO there aren't any views in the mountains that are better than Echo Point. There's lots to be said for the other lookouts for people who've seen the main locations, or if you're going on a walk, or want more a sense of being alone in the bush with fabulous views, but really, there is a reason why Echo Point is the spot that is so developed.
