Whitehaven Beach Day Trip

We will be in Airlie Beach for a few days next week and want to see Whitehaven Beach. We will drive from Yeppoon the day before, so will not have a lot of time to organize the trip for the next day. Don't want to book now - the weather then may be bad.

We are retirees, don't wish to dive or snorkel, and probably not even swim - the main thing is to experience this beautiful pristine beach. Around $150 each is fine, but helicopter/seaplane flights are out of our price range.

I hope someone can recommend a reliable company, and which of their day trips to choose. Don't really want to sit on the beach in the blazing sun for a few hours with no shelter!

hello, Airlie beach now has half day tours to whitehaven beach so you dont have to spend all day there. Most operators leave by 8am at abel point marina or shute harbour. My advice is to call some of the travel agents in Airlie and they can book your tour for you a day in advance.

good luck

You will be safe to book the day before.

If you want to sit back and get there fast with not much extra's (diving etc)then try Whitehaven Express.

You can book your day trip the night before no problems.

Unfortunately you have been given wrong formation about half day tours to Whitehaven Beach. Cruise Whitsunday did offer the half day tour to Whitehaven Beach over the Easter and School holidays as a special however it was only for that period of time and it has not been extended.

Whitehaven Express is a fantastic day trip however it is not running at the moment and will resume her tour on 11 May 2010.

May I suggest you pop in and see a local booking office when you arrive and you will be given the current information so that you can have an enjoyable time in the Whitsunday's.

There are many to choice from that will suite you.

Hi Mum2,

If you're not already here and have been to Whitehaven already, we suggest stopping off at the Whitsunday Information Centre just on the southern outskirts of Proserpine, the girls in there can help you with choosing the right trip and booking it for you. Alternatively, call them on 1300 717407 if you can't make it there before 5pm. Definitely ask the questions as to which operators bring shade huts or umbrellas with them for your use, as not all of them do.

Good luck and we hope you enjoy your trip!

Most of the places where you stay will have brochures, most of the boats pull up for lunch and often people choose to stay on the boat. Just pop into one of the travel agents and let them know your requirements, they are familiar with the boats and will recomend one to you, $150 will cover it. Weather is fantastic just now. no real damage from the cyclone visable now. it looks great.

As we are back home now, I thought I would report back.

We went on a day trip with 'Voyager' - recommended by our accomodation to suit our needs - reduced to $115 at the time we were there.

We had a perfect day - comfortable boat, delicious food (lots of it too), and a good program for the day. The young staff were very friendly and helpful.

Passengers ranged from backpackers to retirees - a lovely mix of friendly people.
