Airlie Information Please

HI, i am a part of a large group of 21 adults who will be sailing the whitsundays in october. We are in need of accommodation for two nights before we sail and three nights after. Can anyone recommend a resort or alike accommodation that is good value for money in a good location and not badly effected by the construction. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

21 Adults, you would all be better of in an apartment.

Try somewhere like Pinnacles Resort which have spa's on their balcony's and the best views of the Whitsunday's, they can take around 8 people per apartment, I would suggest getting 3 rooms for comfort. Another option would be Waters Edge Resort that are also apartments.

Hey gt21, are you guys travelling as couples or is it just a mix, or possibly a footy team. Pinnacles is beautiful, but won't be cheap and that hill will be a killer after a night out socialising so make friends with the taxi drivers, it's a very small fare, but the best value you'll get. A lot will depend on how many rooms your after, there are certainly resorts that can handle your group easily and some where you could have the whole resort, which may not be a bad option. There is a very diverse range of accommodation here from backpackers to 5 star with everything in between. October is a very busy time her so I would get cracking on your plans.

Lower style resorts at the lower end of the market

Koala's, magnums, beaches, Backpackers by the bay.

medium

Whitsunday On The Beach, Airlie Court, Airlie Apts.,

Colonial Court and maybe Whitsunday Terraces.

Higher style accomm

sailbabes suggestions as well as Portside, Airlie Beach Hotel and Corasl Seas resort.

These are only examples and about a tenth of what is aavailable, so your best bet may be to get in touch with a local agent and see what they can suggest. You can get a bit more in depth with your budget and style of accommodation and your romm requirements. Here's a few

Libby & Bob whitsundayaccomodation.net

Kerry vacationsaustralia.com

Mike&Tina whitsundaybookings.com

These guys will be able to tell you what and where are the best for you and check availability which will just make it easier for your good self.

What boat are you cruising on? or haven't you made up your mind yet. I reckon you'll have a great time here whatever your group consists of and these agents will just help all of you make the most of it. let me know how it all goes and if you need any second opinion we'd be happy to give them. With a bit more info we might be able to get a little more specific. cheers airlian

Thanks very much for your suggestions, our group is mostly couples with a few singles as well. Looking at medium price range for accommodation but are concerned about construction as have been told it effects many resorts. ??? We have booked a 7 night barebaot charter with rent a yacht.. plan on staying as a group but couples accommodation prior to sailing then seperating for the last 3 nights into couples.. Could you please give me an idea of food costs up that way to help us better plan our trip.

Many thanks

I think you'll find our cost of living not a lot different from your own. Use the Woolies or Coles shopping centres for the bulk of your supplies, both of which have bottle shops for the necessities.

Any of the medium price range options may suit you for accom, but as I've said there are a lot more choices.

Good luck on the bareboating and there are some interesting posts on that subject. cheers airlian
