Nice horse excursions

So it seems Epona is moving (still waiting for some feedback and alternative options from them) and we were hoping to have a beach ride while staying at El Portillo.

What other "horsey" alternatives would there be? Puerto Plata seems to have a great place but that's too far. The little horses on the rough trail at El Limon is not what we are looking for.

thanks

Karin in Las Galeras does a couple of great half day horse excursions. Have seen her horses and they are extremely well cared for (they are like her family) She is Belgian and speaks great English. Her web site is http://larancheta.com/ and Las G is around 45 minutes from Las T by car, hope this helps

Thanks, i will look that up.

We own horses so are no strangers to riding but riding on the beach and swimming WITH the horses is something we pretty much can't do. Epona had something nice but had to cancel =(

this looks great with Karin.

From Las Terrenas, what are our options to get to Las Galeras?

Taxi would be very expensive no?

What about guagua?

We are arrving late on the 23rd of Feb at El Portillo.

Where do the guagua leave from and how far out do they go? Could we "transfer" a few times to get there?

Wouldn't mind the "hassle" if it is very cheap.

Really a shame to spend 100$ just to get from A to B.

How expensive is it to rent a car? Scooters or motorcycle maybe?

45 min from Portillo to Las Galeras is not accurate, I'm sorry. It's at least 1 hour from Portillo to LG. If you are actually in the town of LT it's another 15 min or more to the trip.

There are many horseback options in between, in the town of Samana. You can ride horses on the beach at El Valle as well as river crossings and a waterfalls. This tour leaves from Samana.

Just returned from Bahia Principe El Portillo. We booked all three of our excursions through Tour Samana with Terry, whale watching, El Limon Falls (by horseback) and Ziplining. Terry delivered everything he promised and more, we had a great time on all three trips and highly recommend him. His tour guide Elijah accompanied us on all three and he was just awesome.

Don't be sorry, we're on vaca, 15 minutes more is NOTHING ;P

Since we do own horses and ride pretty hard, Karin in Las Galeras really seems like the real deal. El Limon horses are not what we are looking for

. I am not familiar with El Valle though. Is this a full day thing?
