Jabiru

At the end of July we have 2 nights in Jabiru. We have a rental car and had considered a Tour group to Jim Jim Falls but due to a disabilty think the climb suitable for younger "mountain goats" than us. No trouble on the flat.

We are looking to hear what others found good to do there.

We see there is a river trip and a cultural centre locally. Look forward to hearing of any best kept secrets from you.

It is a 4WD track in for the last section and the path in from the car park area is level but it is roughish in that you need to clamber over rocks. There is no climbing but if you have a weak knee or hips it might be better to not to do the walk in. You can see the falls from the park but not the pool at the bottom. Normally by July there is not much water coming over.

There is a cultural centre just out of Jabiru and other sites you could visit easily are Oberri Rock, Cahills Crossing, Nourlangie Rock and Jim Jim Lagoons by Cooinda. There are cruises at Yellow Waters and also the East Alligator.

This will give you some ideas as what to see. http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/kakadu/

Thankyou for your trouble and we have noted your suggestions. Assume those are accesible in a non 4WD vehicle? We are doing the Yellow water cruise, where does the Alligator one depart from?

Cheers.

Best thing to do is hop on the park website that Lsbob gave you the link to and download the visitor guide. That will give you best detail. It is an excellent guide.
