Where to stay in Whangarei

After reading your forum about recommended restaurants that no longer exist, I thought I would come straight to the local experts for advise on where to stay in Whangarei. We are visiting from Canada, looking for somewhere reasonably priced, clean and quiet to stay for 3-4 nights mid March. Any suggestions?

Our first trip to NZ from UK was in October 09 and our first two nights were spent in Whangarei as guests at Whangarei Views Bed and Breakfast. After a long flight from UK having driving directions which brought us straight to their front door after travelling for 30 hours got a thumbs up from me ! Fantastic house with panoramic views into the town below from the living dining room. As we had just flown into AKL and driven straight to Whangarei it was great to receive a warm welcome and home brewed coffee on arrival. Warm bedroom and a big comfy bed and on which to dose for an hour before showering (large bathroom) and top quality showers gels and shampoos, plus highly effective power shower and wonderfully fluffy and warm towels, get us going and set up for the evening. Great breakfasts on both days, fresh fruits, toasted muesli, pikelets, home made jams and freshly brewed coffee. Recommend a stay with Wendy and Urbi.
