Day trip to Launceston

Hi... We'll be in Hobart for 4 days in March next year and hope to visit Hobart and surrounding places. I read some good reviews about Bridestowe Lavender farm and Tamar Valley Wine Routes. So we hope to make a day trip to these 2 places driving all the way from Hobart. Is this possible?

Not really.

The Tamar Wine Route is beyond Launceston, which is about 2.5 hours drive north of Hobart. And it would normally take a full day to get around the wine route anyway - including time at Bridestowe Lavender Farm which is near the Pipers River wineries on the eastern side of the Tamar. Just driving from Hobart to Bridestowe and back to Hobart would involve 7 hours driving.

In any case, the "show" of flowers at Bridestowe is long-finished by March.

You could spend a day at the Coal River wineries near Richmond as a day trip from Hobart. There's a link to the Coal River wine region on this page: tripadvisor.com.au/Travel-g255096-c67594/Tas…
