Cheap seafood restaurant / buffet?

Hey guys, I'd like to know if there's any cheap seafood buffet around Gold Coast? Any recommended place?

A google search should bring up lots of options. Some of these will specialse more in seafood while others will have a more diverse offering of dishes. If you want decent quality seafood buffet then it will not be cheap, but I still think the prices are reasonable. Usually between about $40-$75 per person. Sometimes you may be able to find special discount coupons online, on the back of local supermarket dockets or in the local tourist brochures. The following should provide you with a good starting point:

Fables Restaurant @ Mantra Legends Hotel

Corner Laycock Street & Surfers Paradise Boulevard,

Surfers Paradise, 4217

--------

Four Winds Revolving Restaurant @ Crowne Plaza

2807 Gold Coast Highway, Surfers Paradise, 4217

--------

Waves Restaurant @ Watermark Hotel

3032 Surfers Paradise Boulevard,

Surfers Paradise, 4217

--------

Citrique Restaurant @ Marriott Resort & Spa

158 Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise, 4217

--------

Seafood Spectacular @ Jupiters Casino (Friday & Saturday evenings)

Broadbeach, 4218

--------

Kalinda Restaurant @ RACV Royal Pines Resort

Ross Street, Benowa, 4217

--------

Terraces Restaurant @ Sheraton Mirage

71 Sea World Drive, Main Beach, 4217

--------

Ashmore Seafood & Steak (not buffet but big selection and big servings)

528 Ashmore Road, Ashmore, 4214

--------

Surfers Paradise RSL (not buffet but they have a seafood platter for 2 on the menu)

9 Beach Road, Surfers Paradise, 4217

Thanks dude. I've never eaten Australian seafood before. Any distinction with the rest, I mean the recipe or the size of the lobsters or things like that?

I don't think there will be a major difference between the buffets here and what you might have experienced elsewhere - Perhaps, just more western food, although, there are selections of Asian cuisine too usually.

There's a thread here regarding a discount on Infomaps for Food Fantasy at the Jupiters Casino. Unfortunately, that one expires before your trip, but, if you're interested in going there, fingers crossed that they put up another discount that covers your trip.

You should be aware that if the words 'cheap' and 'seafood' are in the same sentence describing an all-you-can-eat buffet, it's unlikely that what you will be eating will have ever swum in Australian waters. Most likely to have been farmed somewhere in Asia and spent quite some time in a deep freeze before reaching your chosen buffet.

We have great local fresh seafood but it's not cheap. Try places like the Four Winds restaurant and Sheraton Mirage for some of the best quality. Not too far from Sheraton Mirage you can purchase prawns direct from the trawlers.
