Where to Stay on Gold Coast?

We have narrowed our visit to the Sunshine/Gold Coast to Noosa (3 nights) and to Surfers Paradise area (3 nights), with a night in brisbane before flying to Port Douglas.

Thoughts on where to stay for Hotel or Apartment in Surfers area? From info on here and elsewhere thinking of Broadbeach or Main, to get out of the glitzy area of Surfers. Looking at $300 for a budget.

Thanks

Is that $300 total for three nights or $300 per night?

My first preference would be for Sheraton Mirage at Main Beach.

If you opt for Broadbeach, Peppers Resort or Sofitel are reasonable.

I think that for $300 p/n you could definately get a room in any of the quality 5 star hotels on the Gold Coast.

The Sheraton is nice, as is the Mariott in Surfers Paradise.

But for something brand new in the heart of Broadbeach I would probably have to recommend Peppers @ Broadbeach.

There is more going on in Broadbeach than Main Beach. More transport options, restaurants, Casino, bars etc. It's a happy compromise between Surfers Paradise and Main Beach.

That said, if you are planning to stay mid week on the Gold Coast then Surfers Paradise is not nearly so busy as the weekends.

The new Soul Building and Hilton in Surfers Paradise are fantastic.
