Where to stay in Newcastle?

Hi all, we don't know Newcastle at all and would be keen to know, before we book any accommodation for mid November, where we will need to be if we don't have a car for our 2 night stay.(We intend training up from Sydney) We will need to be able to walk to places for good coffee, food etc and anything else worth a look. Any recommendations for location, hotels/B and Bs etc would be gratefully received.

The Crown Plaza is central to most attractions - although guess it depends on what you wish to pay per night

The Chifley is in Honeysuckle, has self catering apartments, and is cheaper than the Crowne Plaza. There's also the Novotel, right near the beach, the Novocastrian (also very close to the beach), the Ibis, on Hunter Street, and the Quest serviced apartments, also on Hunter Street. All of these places put you in close range of lots of eateries, night life, good coffee etc.

I agree. Crowne plaza is great! its right in the heart of town. Along honeysuckle there are some great restaurants and right near the beach!

Try Apartments Newcastle Waterfront and Boardwalk on the Stayz website. 19 Honeysuckle Drive Newcastle. This is a residential apartment fully accessorised kitchen, pots pans plates everything you need but also within 5 minutes walk to 8 or 9 cheap but quality restaurants. This modern apt has separate bedroom, lounge area in and outside dining tables, balcony, large bathroom, full laundry with washing and drying machines and best of all undercover free allocated car parking. Security building with mastered keys, self contained and private and relaxing, location is great. Would highly reccommend.
