How to spend a day in Dunedin

The cruise we're hopefully on is stopping for a day in Dunedin - I don't really want to do an expensive cruise-organised tour - we have teens of 18 and 15 so would probably be happier doing our own thing, but it would be good to have some advance plans so if anyone can suggest stuff to do and see while we're there, that would be much appreciated, thanks.

Dunedin is a lovely city for exploring, however the port is a bit out of the city centre so you do need to bus, taxi to get to the central city.

I think a tour in Dundein the best way to go, as the Otago Peninsula is fantastic - great beaches, albatross and penguins.

Take a look at Awesome Tours awesometours.co.nz/tours/… Best make any bookings early to ensure a spot.

Enjoy :)

If the weather is no good then consider the Otago Museum for a few hours. If the weather is fine then a tour on the peninsula or walks in town are good options
