What are your interests? You could fit in a round trip north to Wanaka, then Mt Cook & posisbly Lake Tekapo, followed by Oamaru & Dunedin!

Or you could divide your time between Wanaka, Queenstown & Te Anau and just relax and do as little or as much as you feel like each day.

One of my favourite areas is the West Coast. If you are interested in seeing the glaciers, native bush and rugged Coastline, you could head in that direction, take your time and enjoy a few days on the Coast.

Queenstown, Wanaka, through the Haast Pass and stay at Fox or Franz Josef Glacier, visit Lake Matheson, stay in Hokitika.

Again it depends on what you are most interested in seeing.

Hi thanks for suggestions, that will definitely help us. also we want to cover following places

1) queenstown

2) wanaka

3) teanau

4) dunedin

5) frenk joseph

6) lake tekapo

7) greymoth

the main reason for greymoth is we are interested in TranzAlpine(scenic rail). could you please suggest us how we setup our trip and where to stay and for how many days.As we know nothing about places to visit and also we are going to explore it by driving the car.

Thank you so much for you responses.

You have too many places on your list!, in too many directions. With 7 places and 11 N, you can only manage 2 N at 4 places and 1 N at each of the others, but to get from FJG to Lake Tekapo (500 KM) you will also need a night at Chch after taking the TA.

WLnz & I have already given you 2 good suggestions for a sensible pace, covering 6 of your list each. However here is one last try:

3 Feb Arr ZQN (what time? Will you need to stay the night or can you drive to Te Anau?

4. Drive to Te Anau (2N)

5. Milford day trip

6. Drive to Dunedin (2 N)

7. Explore

8. Drive to Wanaka

9. drive to FJG (2N)

10. Explore

11. Drive to Greymouth, renturn rental car, take TA to Chch ( arrive early evening)

12. Drive to Lake Tekapo

13. drive to Queenstown (possible detour to Mt Cook if weather is good & you get an early start!)

Hope this helps!
