Travel Itinerary- would this be ok?

Hi we are coming to NZ to get married at the beginning of April this year. We are slightly unprepared with an Itinerary and I was just wondering if this sounded ok.

We are looking for a holiday that is chilled out and relaxing, but still has activities to do. We like adventure.

29/3 Arrive Queenstown stay night.

30/3-3/4 Wanaka where we will be based for 4 days for our wedding

4/4 leave Wanaka head to Haast for lunch and look around then head on to Franz Josef overnight

5/4 tour - Franz Josef over night

6/4 drive to Greymouth stay over night

7/4 tour - Greymouth overnight

8/4 8am departure head to Nelson overnight

9/4 tour - Nelson over night

10/4 head to Picton overnight

11/4 tour - Picton overnight

12/4 drive Christchurch overnight

13/4 drive lake tekapo overnight

14/4 Queenstown

15/4 Queenstown

16/4 fly out Queenstown 4pm.

Can anyone offer suggestions if they think this could work?? Or make other suggestions..We technically can use a day allocated for Queenstown for somewhere else, as we will be in and out of queenstown from wanaka.

Thanking you in advance

Welcome to TA and congratulations on your wedding. Nothing wrong with the route you have chosen but some odd choices of places to stay & some long drives. Just a couple of comments -

29/3. What time does your flight arrive? You could minimise changes of hotel if you could go straight to Wanaka.

6-7/4. What is the tour you are doing in Greymouth? It wouldn't be my choice for 1 night, let alone 2. Will it finish in time for you to carry on to Punakaiki on the 7th?

8-9/4. If the tour is in Abel Tasman NP, you could stay closer to the park eg Kaiteriteri or Marahau, where the water taxis depart.

13/4. Mt Cook would be a better place to stay than Lake Tekapo IMO. It does add 90 min to the drive this day but there is more to do in the National Park.

Thank you for your reply... We get in lmid afternoon, but would have been flying all night. So that's why we though we'd stay in Queenstown for first night.. Also allowed us time to scout out the building that we will need to come back to visit on Monday prior to our wedding.

We haven't actually booked any tours as such..We just thought about allowing every second day to do a tour. We didn't want to be rolling you to a town/city then trying to cram a tour in the Afternoon then head off the next day

Greymouth I wasn't 100% sure about. We are open to suggestions about alternate places to visit between glaciers and Nelson.

I agree with Zhuhai about Greymouth.

I would suggest driving Franz-Punakaiki, spending a night there and then heading to Nelson. You could then use that extra night in Nelson or Christchurch, or add in a night in Mt Cook so you get to stay in both Tekapo and Mt Cook Village.
