I've finally decided to take advantage of cheap airfares and have just purchased some return flights to Wellington. Later this winter we will be arriving in Wellington early on a Friday morning and leaving late Saturday evening. So essentially we will have 2 full days to enjoy the sights.
It's been years since I visited Wellington, and I've never visited with a child. So I'm after any advice you can give me on visiting Wellington with a family. More specifically:
1) Apart from the obvious (Te Papa, Zoo, Zelandia, Cable Car), are there any must see attractions for a family with a pre-schooler? We particularly love inexpensive places to go for short walks.
2) Any great kids playgrounds or family friendly cafes?
3) Which hotel is better located - Rydges or the Copthorne? Both have good family packages.
4) Lastly, what's traffic like between the airport and the waterfront about 8am on a Friday morning? If awful, are there any great attractions/cafes etc near the airport we could go to spend an hour or two while the traffic dies down?
Thanks so much everyone :-)
