My wife and I will be visiting New Zealand for six weeks during October and the first half of November and are already finding that there are too many places to go and not enough time. If we have read our guidebooks correctly the main attractions of Rotorua are its geothermal features, Maori shows/hangis and hotpools. We visited Yellowstone three years ago and saw most of its geothermal features so wonder if we can afford to bypass Rotorua and, possibly, visit White Island instead. If we don't spend much, or any, time in Rotorua could we still enjoy Maori experiences elsewhere, say at Waitangi or on the East Cape? We understand that there are hot pools elsewhere so that doesn't seem to be a problem.
We would be most grateful for some guidance.
