Napier - Bluff Hill

stayed in a private villa on top of Bluff Hill and have to say, fabulous views. If anybody is thinking of going make sure you go to lunch in some of the wineries too - absolutely brilliant. We also found the town excellent given it is rebuilt in Art Deco style after an earthquake. An unexpected treasure - we loved it!! House didn't allow for under 12s though - Steve J

We had two nights in Napier recently and it was probably our favorite city in New Zealand. It's really a nice town.

Was it on France Rd Bluff Hill? 'Cos if it was, it is my old home! We sold our villa on the top of Bluff Hill to a lady who turned it into a Band B.

Napier is a rather lovely place isn't it? We always had lots of visitors in the short time we lived there. After moving to Palmerston North the flow of visitors dried up considerably! (No offence to Palmy residents - we loved living there too, but it definately isn't on the top of the "places to visit" list of most tourists.)

not France Road, it was Elizabeth Road, brand new build so not sure what was there before. Very modern and spacious. Loved it!!

We walked to the top of bluff hill. Damn near killed us! We didnt realise there was a road right to the summit. The signposting half way up, could be a bit better as well!

Worst was, the camera packed up at the top. We had to drive up again before we left, to take more snaps.

Loved the little park at the bottom.

Centenial Gardens in Coote Road, it used to be the old prison quarry. The old prison is just across the road backed into the hill, it's now a backpackers!
