Auckland city on Good Friday . What to see ?

We will be in Auckland for one full day on Good Friday. Staying 'downtown' I think ( juicy hotel). No car and would like suggestions of what is easily accessible walking or public transport. Got kids 9 & 7.

Hi there

The Jucy Hotel is very close to the main part of the CBD...it is about a 5 minute walk from the waterfront (longer on the way back to the hotel as it is uphill !!)

So you are within walking distance of the Sky Tower, the ferry building, the Viaduct etc, so plenty to look at in those areas....

If you walk down to Britomart (opposite the ferry building), you could take the Explorer Bus, hop on/hop off bus tour, or get on a train to Newmarket or Onehunga (both good shopping areas).....

All that will easily fill up a day....by the way, the Britomart precinct area is also brilliant for cafes, bars & restaurants....

Check with Auckland i-SITES as to what will be open on this Public Holiday, and for activities to suit your children's ages.

And just be aware that many cafes and restaurants add on a public holiday surcharge to your bill, usually 10-15%.
