48 hours in Auckland, What to do with the wife's money?

We will be spending three weeks on the southern island but only two nights and 1.5 days in Auckland. So with two nights for dinner, where would go? What would you see and where would you stay. What hotel? A another couple of dollars is not going to break the budget.(late 60's, good health)

Dates Feb 26,27, 28 head back to USA.

In that amount of time you'll be able to do quite a lot while in Auckland.

(Naturally biased!), West Auckland certainly has a lot of things of interest as there is the Rainforest, craftmarket, honey-tasting, wineries, dining, farmland, Maori culture, history, Muriwai Beach plus the gannets. (All only 40 minutes from Downtown, and possible to do all in the one day, should you wish to optimise your time that way).

Bear-in-mind too, (so you are not wasting a day), that depending on your flight back home, you could combine such activities which include drop-off at the airport with your luggage!

Central to lower downtown area is best for Hotels as this is close to Viaduct & Wynyard Quarter for restaurants.

Merry Christmas :)

Hi

Lots to do, but what would you like. I agree that Muriwai is special, look up google images. But it is something that will take a chunk of time.

Closer to Auck, look for the free city bus virtualtourist.com/travel/Australia_and_Ocea…

If you want amazing views catch a bus or taxi to Mt Eden and walk up an old volcano, then back down to Mt Eden village for lunch or afternoon tea.

Catch a ferry to Devonport

Look through the Art Gallery and visit the Museum

Motat has an interesting display of transport including an aviation section http://www.motat.org.nz/

Rent a kayak from Fergs Kayaks and have a picnic lunch on Rangitoto

Spot the fish and penguins at Kelly Tarletons

Dinner at Wynyard quarter or Viaduct basin
