Auckland in August 2006

Hi all,

Planning to visit Auckland in August.

Anyone knows how the weather may be in Auckland in August ? Snowy ?

I have only a chance to visit NZ in the late July or in the beginning of August and I do not want it to be very cold !!!

Hi - no the weather is NEVER snowy in Auckland. We are at the northern part of New Zealand with has a much more moderate climate. During August you could expect cold mornings (6-10 degrees C) and during the day approx 12-16 degrees C.

Its a shame that you can only come to Auckland though as this is not really the 'true' New Zealand.

Hi, think about hining a car and popping up to Northland for a couple of days. The temperatures are usually a couple of degrees warmer than Auckland and you get some spectacular sunny days. The drive from Auckland to Whangarei is only 2.5 hours and from there the Bay of Islands are one more hour. Or you can go to the West Coast in a similar amount of time. If you aren't so keen on driving there are plenty of bus options as well.
