airport cab in February

airport cab in February

Two of us will be traveling into Auckland from the US in February, arriving around 10 am on a Thursday. Our luggage is too much for us to handle on a shuttle (two large bags each PLUS carryons).

Will we be able to find a cab large enough to handle all of this?

What can we expect to pay to get to a CBD hotel via such a cab?

Thank you for your assistance.

Shuttle drivers will help load luggage into the luggage trailer that they tow - and I would think that it's easier than lifting into the boot of a car.

You'll need a taxi van for such an extreme amount of luggage - I'm assuming some specialist equipment for a project... Taxis of varying sizes will be around, you may need to wait a little.

..... sorry will add to above as my editing didn’t work..... yes def taxis available but would mean 2 bags in the boot and 2 on the back seat plus a person so a bit of a squeeze. There are taxi vans but not as frequent. The shuttle bus option is a good one as the guys are usually very helpful and of course happy to load your bags.... I think I would choose that option.

I would also arrange for a Supershuttle pickup. If you go online to get a quote and mention that you have two large cases, besides carryon. They will book your transfer according to space for your time slot, and the use of the luggage trailer too.

Taxis cost anywhere from $60 to $100+ for two passengers into the CBD. There are lots of taxis waiting on the rank, if you can find a taxi van available. You dont need to engage the first taxi waiting on the rank, or accept any particular company for that matter.

Thank you for such thorough information! I wish we could use Uber, but I fear no vehicle will be large enough. In the states we can get Uber XL... usually a large SUV. NOt sure if anywhere else in the world has such gas guzzlers.

Shuttle is def the best option for large luggage.

I hope you are not planning to travel around NZ with so much luggage. The golden rule is “half the luggage and twice the money”! You won’t find porters in NZ hotels.
